Thief! This is a little tribute to the 1998 PC game, Thief. I suppose it does have an Assassin’s Creed feel to it as well, but Thief was the first 3d stealth-action game I ever played- so I hold it very dear. Sorry there’s no set-up shot for this one!
Gordon! Here’s an ode to one of my favorite games ever, Half-Life. When I was a younger geek, I put hours and hours into that game as well as the add-ons, sequels and mods.. so it’s only natural that I put a few more hours into crafting something to show how much the game means to me.
Scrooge! I made this one today for my friend, Jaimè Tosquambo. That’s me as Bobby Cratchit, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is designed after Death from Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey. I also modeled for Scrooge’s body, and referenced an old wood cut for the face and cap ideas. Happy holidays!
Catwoman! This is a piece inspired by Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. That’s my favorite graphic novel of his by far. Seriously, if you haven’t read it- well, it’s perfect. That’s his Catwoman I modelled in the window, and myself as the security guard. As you can see from the wide angle shot, most of my set ups are super sketchy when you see what lies just outside the frame. It’s all fairly spontaneous as well. Sometimes, I’ll draw an outline of what I’m about to build- but for the most part, the cutouts all end up as happy accidents.
Hi everyone! I’ve been so busy lately working on a few other projects that I haven’t had time to make one of these. This one is sort of a combination of a few things. I lovelovelove Dark Souls so I wanted to use the lunging stab motion with the knight. The creepy guy with the axe is derived from one of the infected villagers from Resident Evil 4, and the castle is a reference to Super Mario Bros… the princess is, indeed, in another castle. Enjoy!
today i took one of my favorite comics, the dark knight returns by frank miller, and recreated one of the frames for some fun and lighting excercise. plus i batman is the coolest. though like my last post, i think this one also stems from my xbox being broken and the inability to play arkham city :( anyways, if you’ve never read miller’s batman year one or dark knight returns, do so immediately because they are gold. enjoy!
This is the full picture of what i was messing around with in the movie poster. I added smoke to the guns some clouds in the sky. The photo was made from black and grey paper that i cut out for the figures, cactus, and the mountain range. I used paper towels for the clouds and cotton for the smoke. the warm light temp is from the modeling lamp on my flash. I used absolutely no photoshop! Not that i don’t love the hell out of it, I just wanted to make something that was totally hands on and less time hunched over a computer! for my back’s sake!
